Group admin guide
Your claim has been approved, so you can now manage your group on Roll for Company. This page walks through everything you can set up. The first three sections take about five minutes and make the biggest difference to how players see you.
Every admin page has a Help link that brings you back to the matching section here.
Getting started
The short version:
- Write your description so players know what you play and who is welcome.
- Add a website or contact email so people can reach you.
- Upload a photo of a session.
- Create your first event. Events are how players actually join you.
Then, when you are ready: get linked to your venue, member discounts, recurring holds, payments and posts.
Signed in? Your live progress is on your dashboard and at the top of this page.
Where everything lives
- Dashboard (/dashboard): your group card with followers, the next event and recent posts. Edit and View as player are at the top.
- Edit (the Edit button on your dashboard or public page): name, description, location, website, contact details and photos.
- Public page: what players see. Open it with View as player to check your changes.
Description
Found under Edit.
Say what you play (board games, RPGs, a particular system), when and how often you meet, roughly how many people turn up, and whether newcomers are welcome. If people need to bring anything, or if there is a cost, say so here. Two or three short paragraphs is plenty.
If your listing was imported, the description may carry an AI label. Replace it with your own words.
Contact details
Found under Edit.
Add a website (a Discord invite, Facebook group or Meetup page all count) and a contact email. Players who find you here will use these to ask questions, so make sure someone checks them. City and address are on the same form. The city places you on the map, so keep it accurate.
Photos
Found under Edit.
A photo of a real session, even a phone snap of the table, makes the group feel welcoming. The first photo is used as your cover on cards across the site.
Where you meet
If you meet at a venue that is listed on Roll for Company, being linked to it puts your group on the venue page and on the map next to it.
The venue's admin creates the link from their venue's edit page, under Linked Groups. Ask them to add you. If your venue is not listed yet, suggest it and we will add it. If you are stuck, contact us and we will link you.
Once linked you can request recurring holds and the venue can offer your members a discount.
Events
Create an event with Create event on your dashboard, or from the events page.
Events appear on your public page, the events listing and the map, and go out to everyone following you. Set a date, a start time and how long it runs, a description, the venue or location, and how many players you can take. You can make an event members only or private if it is not open to everyone.
Recurring events are supported, so a weekly session only needs setting up once. Players RSVP on the event page and you can see the count on your dashboard.
Events can be free, pay on the day, or paid online (see payments).
Member discount
Found under Settings, then Member discount on your group pages.
If you charge for events, you can give members a percentage off. Members are people who have joined your group on the site. Venues you are linked to can also offer your members a discount on table bookings; that is set on the venue's side.
Recurring holds
Found under Settings, then Recurring holds, once you are linked to a venue.
A recurring hold is a standing table reservation for your regular session: for example, two tables every Thursday from 7pm. Pick the venue, the day, the times and how long the arrangement runs, and the venue's admin confirms or declines. Once confirmed, the tables are blocked out for you automatically each week.
Payments
Found under Settings, then Payments.
Connecting a Stripe account lets you take money online for paid events. Listing, events and promotion are free. If you collect on the day, you do not need this. When you take payment through the site, Roll for Company charges a platform fee on each transaction, Stripe's card fees are billed to your Stripe account, and the balance is paid out to your bank on Stripe's rolling schedule.
Posts
Found on your dashboard, in the Recent posts column.
Posts are short updates that go to everyone following your group: what you played last week, a change of venue, a call for players for a new campaign. Add a photo if you have one.
Followers and members
Players can follow your group to get posts and event announcements, and join it to become a member. Membership can be open, or you can review requests first; that is set under Edit. Follower and member counts are on your dashboard.
